Note about SPADES changes
Some webinar attendees asked about the timing of SPADES changes from CMS. To learn more, please read Broad River Rehab's blog post that details the SPADES, HERE.

In this webinar, Broad River Rehab highlights the concepts of Trauma-Informed Care and Health Literacy, which have become increasingly important from both practical and regulatory perspectives.

Soon, facilities will be required to address social determinants of health in the MDS, and health literacy will be addressed in new MDS item set. Trauma-Informed Care was part of the updated conditions of participation requirements, and even though we have no formal interpretive guidance yet, this requirement can still be surveyed and cited.

Throughout the COVID pandemic, these two concepts have come together to form a strategic approach to ongoing health issues that COVID-19 precipitated. This presentation will help you develop a mindset toward integrating these concepts into your daily practice and culture change.

What you’ll learn:

  • Background and concepts of Health Literacy and Trauma-Informed Care
  • How COVID-19 informs both aspects of post-acute care
  • How to identify current PAC Health Literacy gaps
  • Latest MDS revisions and the path forward
