On April 28, 2014, the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) and the Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership (TMHP) announced that several Texas PASRR changes are coming this summer to the PASRR (Preadmission Screening and Resident Review) process.
An exact date for the changes has not been announced, but our Texas Medicaid team is keeping in close touch with TMHP and DADS to ensure SimpleCFS will fully accommodate the changes.
In the meantime, here’s what SimpleCFS users need to know…
1) A PL1 is required prior to LTCMI or the MDS will be rejected
If a PASRR Level 1 (PL1) Screening Form has not been submitted prior to the MDS Long Term Care Medicaid Information (LTCMI) submission, the LTCMI will not be accepted by TMHP. If this is the case, you can save the LTCMI as a draft and resubmit it after the PL1 has been submitted.
2) New alert will show when a PL1 is still awaiting certification
TMHP is adding a new system alert that will notify facilities when they have not yet indicated whether or not they are able to serve the individual’s needs on the PL1. SimpleCFS users will be able to see these alerts on their “Form Activity” page along with all of their other “Action Required” forms.
SimpleCFS users will not need to use the TMHP LTC Online Portal to access these alerts. Facility staff will continue to submit and manage their PL1s from within the Form Activity screen just as they do today.
Not a SimpleLTC customer? If you don’t currently submit your PL1s through SimpleLTC, let us know and we’ll show you how SimpleCFS makes your PL1 process much faster and more efficient.
3) New Change of Ownership (CHOW) process
With the PASRR updates, there will be changes to the CHOW process as well, including verifying with TMHP that a PL1 has been entered for every resident, including those admitted to the facility pre-CHOW and post-CHOW.
