Yes, there’s a week for this and it couldn’t be timelier this year and this week (every week actually).
COVID-19 has shown the world what we’ve always known—infection preventionists (IPs) are essential to keeping the world safe. In addition to all the usual suspects (healthcare-associated infections, resurgence in measles outbreaks, flu season, etc.), the infection prevention and control community is fighting a global pandemic for the foreseeable future.
International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW), established in 1986, aims to shine a light on infection prevention each and every year. However, we want this year to be a celebration of the bravery and tireless efforts of the world’s IPs. Join your colleagues and friends in celebrating IPs during International Infection Prevention Week, October 18-24.In light of the challenges facing the world in 2020, this year’s IIPW will focus on recognizing our IPs and the role they have played in keeping us all safe and healthy.
